"Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?" - Matthew14:28-31
Here is the typical us. We seek confirmation that we can be accepted into His family and He answers in the affirmative. We begin the journey towards home and we can see His hand reaching out for us. By and by, we change focus and say we’re still on our way home but the truth is that the world attracts us. We no longer focus. We see what’s around us and start questioning how come we have such abilities. There are so many obstacles around us. There is so much trouble around us. So many things need our attention.
The world questions if we know what we are doing. Our friends ask us if we are really serious doing what no other person they know is doing. Our family challenges us and hold their breath for our fall. We begin to see that yes, we are taking it too far. Why should we be the ones challenging the status quo? Do we really want to get there in the face of what can stop us getting there? How will we face people when we fail. What will we do when what we say doesn’t happen? Do miracles still happen in this day and age? What’s so special about you?
The inevitable happens. We start sinking. We let go of our faith and we do what everyone expected us to do. After all, it was illogical.
Praises be to the Lord!! He still holds out His hand for us when our faith falls so that should we remember where are, we see His hand and hold on. We are forever in his presence.
Today we can still look for His hand and continue that walk of faith. We do walk on the waters despite who’s watching us. Remember, you are God’s beloved.
Will you take His hand?
